Excursion: PAESTUM:
Paestum is one of the lesser know archaeological sites in Italy, though it is none the less very impressive, Built by the Greeks 600 BC. Due to the area being malarias Paestum was deserted in the 9th century and if it had not been for new road excavations in 1748, the temples would not have been discovered and excavated. Paestum is not as busy as its counterparts Pompeii and Herculaneum and has a peaceful calm atmosphere and well worth a visit. By the sea and unspoilt with local people happy to have you visit their town. Many restaurants and cafes to enjoy an ice cream or coffee.
